Czech lessons in Liberec & online

Michaela Vackova, Czech language teacher in Liberec

🌿 You moved to the Czech Republic. You can order a beer, you know that "dobrý den" opens most doors.

🌿  And then there are the seven cases. The verbs that change shape when you are not looking. The moment at the doctor's office when you understand every third word and have to guess the rest.

🌿 I have been teaching languages in Liberec for 13 years, and Czech for foreigners is a big part of what I do. I teach adults who work here, raise families here, and want to stop feeling like a guest in their own street.

What my students say :

Sergii Novak, Czech language student

I would like to express my sincere thanks for a professional and at the same time very human approach to teaching. The lessons are always well structured, clear and highly motivating. I particularly appreciate the patience with which even the most complicated grammar is explained, and the ability to create an atmosphere where you are not afraid to make mistakes and speak. If you are looking for a great mentor for studying Czech, you could not choose better.

About me

I have taught languages for 13 years — privately, for the Kover Language School, and for the Labour Office in Prague and Liberec, where I taught Czech to foreigners. I have lived abroad myself, so I know the particular tiredness of a day spent in a language that isn't your own.

What we work on :

How lessons work

Lessons are one-to-one, in person in Liberec or online — whichever fits your week better. Many of my students mix both, especially when work travel gets in the way.

There is no fixed curriculum waiting for you. I don't offer one-size-fits-all lessons ; each one is cut to fit. If you need to survive a meeting on Thursday, we work on that meeting. If you are stuck on the instrumental case, we stay there until it clicks.

We can start in English. I teach English as well, so in the early stages you will never be left stranded without a way to ask what something means. As your Czech grows, English quietly steps back.

Permanent residency exam

If you are applying for permanent residency, you will need to pass the Czech language exam. It tests reading, listening, writing and speaking, and the speaking part is where most people lose their nerve rather than their grammar.

We work through the exam format itself — what the tasks look like, how much time you have, what the examiners are actually listening for — and then we practise until the room stops feeling like an exam room.

Dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, ADD

Some people arrive convinced they are simply bad at languages. Usually they are not. Usually they have dyslexia, ADHD, or a way of processing information that no classroom ever adapted to.

I have specialised in teaching people with learning differences for years — dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, ADD. It changes how I explain, how I sequence things, and how much repetition we build in. It does not change what you can achieve.

Frequently asked questions- FAQ

1. Do I need to speak any Czech to start?

No. Complete beginners are welcome. We can run the first lessons largely in English.

2. How long until I can hold a conversation?

It depends on how much Czech you hear outside our lessons, but most students are managing short real conversations within a few months. The exam-level goals take longer and we plan them properly.

3. Can we focus only on speaking?

Yes. Many students want exactly that, and we can leave written grammar exercises out almost entirely.

Czech is not too hard for you. It is just new.
